About Cedar Beauty
Cedar Beauty is an owner-led beauty business based in Belton-in-Rutland, Rutland. Treatments are provided by a qualified beauty clinician and aesthetician with 20 years of experience in the beauty industry. Cedar Beauty is accredited and insured through The Guild of Beauty Therapists.
The current insurance is arranged through the Guild and underwritten by Hiscox, providing combined malpractice, public and products liability cover of up to £3 million for any one claim and £6 million in aggregate, subject to the policy terms, conditions and exclusions. The current policy period is 11 November 2025 to 10 November 2026.
Appointments and bookings
Appointments may be booked through Fresha or by contacting Cedar Beauty directly. A booking is only confirmed once the client receives confirmation through Fresha or directly from Cedar Beauty. Clients are responsible for checking that the treatment, date, time and contact details shown in the booking confirmation are correct. Cedar Beauty may contact clients about their appointment, consultation, patch test, aftercare or necessary changes to a booking.
Cedar Beauty may need to rearrange or cancel an appointment because of illness, emergency, equipment failure or circumstances outside reasonable control. Where this happens, the client will be offered a new appointment or, if they paid in advance, an appropriate refund.
Prices and payment
Treatment prices are those shown on the Cedar Beauty website, Fresha booking page or otherwise confirmed at the time of booking. Prices may change, but a confirmed booking will normally be charged at the price quoted when it was made unless there was an obvious pricing error or the treatment has changed with the client's agreement. Cedar Beauty does not require clients to pay a deposit when booking an appointment. When booking through Fresha, clients may be offered the option to pay for their treatment in advance.
This is an optional upfront payment processed securely through Fresha and is not a deposit required by Cedar Beauty. Where a treatment has not been paid for in advance, payment must be made at the appointment using a payment method accepted by Cedar Beauty. Any cancellation or no-show charge remains payable whether or not the treatment was paid for in advance.
Cancellations and rescheduling
Clients must give at least 48 hours' notice if they wish to cancel or rearrange an appointment. Where less than 48 hours' notice is given, Cedar Beauty may charge 50% of the total price of the treatment or treatments booked. The charge reflects the reserved appointment time and the difficulty of offering it to another client at short notice.
If an appointment was paid for in advance and is cancelled or rearranged with at least 48 hours' notice, the payment may be refunded or transferred to a rearranged appointment, subject to the processing arrangements used by Fresha. Where less than 48 hours' notice is given, Cedar Beauty may retain or charge 50% of the booked treatment price and refund any remaining balance where applicable. Cancellations should be made through Fresha where that option is available or by contacting Cedar Beauty directly.
A cancellation is not confirmed until it has been acknowledged through the booking system or by Cedar Beauty.
Missed appointments and no-shows
A client who does not attend a confirmed appointment and has not cancelled it will be treated as a no-show. Cedar Beauty may charge 100% of the total price of the treatment or treatments booked. Where the appointment was paid for in advance, the full payment may be retained. Where it was not paid for in advance, the full amount may be charged or must be settled before another appointment is accepted. Cedar Beauty may also decline future bookings from clients with repeated late cancellations or no-shows.
Late arrivals
Clients should arrive on time for their appointment. A client arriving more than 10 minutes late may have the treatment shortened, adapted or rearranged where there is insufficient time to complete it safely and professionally without affecting the next client. Where an appointment cannot proceed because of the client's late arrival, it may be treated as a late cancellation and the 50% late-cancellation charge may apply.
If a shortened treatment can proceed, the full booked treatment price remains payable because the original appointment time was reserved for the client.
Consultations and health information
A consultation may be required before or at the start of a treatment. Clients must answer consultation questions honestly and provide complete, accurate and up-to-date information relevant to treatment safety and suitability, including:
- medical conditions, allergies and sensitivities
- medication and topical products
- skin conditions, infections, injuries or recent reactions
- pregnancy or breastfeeding
- recent surgery, cosmetic procedures, injectables, peels, laser treatments or other relevant treatments
- any previous adverse reaction to a beauty or skincare treatment.
Clients must tell Cedar Beauty if any of this information changes before a later appointment. Information withheld or provided inaccurately may affect treatment safety and results. Cedar Beauty will handle personal and health information in accordance with its Privacy Notice.
Contraindications and treatment suitability
A treatment may need to be adapted, postponed or refused where Cedar Beauty reasonably believes it would be unsafe, unsuitable or contrary to professional guidance, product instructions or insurance requirements. Cedar Beauty does not diagnose medical conditions. Clients may be advised to seek guidance from their GP, pharmacist or another suitably qualified healthcare professional before treatment. Medical consent does not oblige Cedar Beauty to carry out a treatment if it is not considered safe or appropriate.
Patch testing
Patch testing is mandatory for treatments and products where required by the manufacturer, Cedar Beauty's professional protocols or its insurer. Where required, the patch test must normally be completed at least 24 hours before treatment, or earlier where the relevant product instructions require it.
A new patch test may be required for a new client, after a gap of one year, when the product or formulation changes, following a previous reaction, or where the client's health, medication or circumstances have changed. A treatment cannot proceed without a valid patch test where one is required. Failure to attend a required patch test may result in the treatment being cancelled and the late-cancellation policy applying. A negative patch test reduces risk but cannot guarantee that a reaction will not occur.
Lash and brow treatments
Lash lifts, brow laminations, eyebrow tinting, eyelash tinting and related treatments are subject to consultation, patch testing where required, and assessment of the condition of the skin, brows, lashes and eye area. Clients must disclose eye conditions, skin disorders, allergies, sensitivities, previous reactions, recent eye surgery, relevant medication and any recent lash or brow treatments. Contact lenses may need to be removed.
Cedar Beauty may adapt, postpone or refuse treatment where irritation, infection, broken skin or another contraindication is present. Results vary according to hair growth, hair condition, previous treatments, homecare and individual response. Clients must follow the aftercare advice provided to protect the result and reduce the risk of irritation or damage.
Waxing treatments
Waxing is subject to consultation and assessment of the skin and treatment area. Clients must disclose medication and products that may increase skin sensitivity, including retinoids, exfoliating acids, acne medication, steroid creams and recent professional skin treatments. Waxing may be adapted, postponed or refused where there is broken, inflamed, infected, sunburnt or otherwise compromised skin, or where Cedar Beauty considers the treatment unsuitable.
Temporary redness, warmth, sensitivity, follicular reaction, bruising or occasional skin lifting can occur despite appropriate care. Clients must follow the waxing aftercare provided, including advice about heat, exercise, fragranced products, exfoliation and sun exposure.
Facials and skincare treatments
Facials and skincare treatments are selected following consultation and may be adapted according to the client's skin condition, sensitivity, goals and relevant health information on the day. Clients must disclose allergies, medication, active skin conditions, recent sun exposure and recent procedures such as injectables, peels, microneedling, laser or surgery. Cedar Beauty may omit a product or treatment stage, substitute an appropriate product, or postpone treatment where necessary for safety.
Skincare advice is cosmetic in nature and is not a medical diagnosis or treatment. Clients with persistent, unexplained or concerning skin symptoms should seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional.
LED Skincare
LED Skincare uses selected wavelengths of light as a non-invasive cosmetic treatment. The wavelength and treatment approach are selected according to the client's skin goals, consultation and suitability. LED may be used to support the appearance of skin affected by concerns such as fine lines, breakouts, redness, sensitivity, uneven tone or loss of firmness. LED Skincare is not a substitute for medical diagnosis, medical care or prescribed treatment.
Clients must disclose photosensitising medication, light sensitivity, eye conditions, pregnancy, medical conditions and any other relevant contraindication. Protective equipment must be used where directed. Treatment outcomes and timescales vary and are not guaranteed. Some clients may be unsuitable for LED treatment or may need medical approval before proceeding.
Treatment results
Cedar Beauty will provide treatments with reasonable care and skill. However, individual results vary according to factors including skin or hair condition, health, hormones, medication, lifestyle, previous treatments, homecare and adherence to aftercare. Photographs, examples, descriptions and expected timescales are illustrative and do not guarantee a particular result. Several sessions or ongoing maintenance may be recommended, but no specific outcome can be promised.
Aftercare and reactions
Clients are responsible for following all aftercare advice provided verbally, in writing or electronically. Failure to follow aftercare may affect results and increase the risk of irritation, infection, damage or other complications. A client who experiences an unexpected reaction should stop using any product identified by Cedar Beauty, follow the advice provided and contact Cedar Beauty promptly.
Urgent, severe or worsening symptoms require appropriate medical attention; clients should contact NHS 111, their GP or emergency services as appropriate.
Children and young people
Cedar Beauty does not provide treatments to clients under the age of 16. Clients aged 16 or 17 may receive certain eligible treatments, including waxing, eyebrow tinting and eyelash tinting, subject to treatment suitability, product manufacturer guidance, professional standards, insurance requirements and completion of any required patch test. Written consent from a parent or legal guardian is required for a client aged 16 or 17, and the parent or legal guardian must be present during the treatment.
Cedar Beauty may apply a higher minimum age or decline a treatment where required by law, insurance, product instructions or professional judgement.
Treatment courses and packages
Treatment courses and packages are personal to the client for whom they are purchased. They are non-transferable and non-refundable once purchased, subject always to the client's statutory rights under UK consumer law. The LED Glow Therapy Package consists of six LED therapy sessions rather than six traditional full facial treatments. All sessions in an LED course must be used within three months of the date of purchase.
Unused sessions expire after that period unless Cedar Beauty agrees an extension because of exceptional circumstances. Appointments within a course remain subject to the 48-hour cancellation, no-show and late-arrival policies. A missed session or a session cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice may be treated as used. Cedar Beauty may recommend a particular treatment schedule, but clients are responsible for booking their sessions in sufficient time and subject to appointment availability.
Purchasing a package does not guarantee a specific day or time.
Gift vouchers
Gift vouchers are valid for six months from the date of purchase unless a different expiry date is expressly stated when purchased. The expiry date will not normally be extended except at Cedar Beauty's discretion or where required by law. Gift vouchers are non-transferable and may only be used by the person for whom they were purchased or issued. They cannot normally be exchanged for cash and no cash change will be given. Where the treatment price exceeds the voucher value, the balance must be paid by the client.
Appointments booked using a gift voucher are subject to the usual cancellation and no-show policies. If an appointment is cancelled late or missed, the applicable charge may be deducted from the voucher value. Lost, stolen or unauthorised vouchers may not be replaced where ownership and remaining value cannot be verified.
Offers and promotions
Offers and promotional prices are subject to the terms stated with the relevant promotion, availability and any stated expiry date. Unless expressly stated otherwise, offers cannot be used with another discount, exchanged for cash, applied retrospectively or transferred to another person. Cedar Beauty may amend or withdraw an offer before a booking is made. A confirmed promotional booking will be honoured in accordance with the terms that applied when it was booked, except in the case of an obvious error.
Personal belongings
Clients are responsible for their personal belongings while attending Cedar Beauty. Cedar Beauty is not responsible for loss of or damage to personal items unless caused by a failure to exercise reasonable care and skill. Clients should avoid bringing unnecessary valuables to appointments.
Right to refuse or stop treatment
Cedar Beauty may refuse, adapt, postpone or stop a treatment where it is unsafe, unsuitable, outside professional competence, contrary to product or insurance requirements, or where a client has not provided required information, consent or patch testing. Treatment may also be refused or stopped if a client behaves in an abusive, threatening, discriminatory, sexually inappropriate or otherwise unacceptable manner. Where treatment is stopped because of client conduct, the full treatment price may remain payable.
Client responsibilities and liability
Clients are responsible for providing accurate information, following preparation and aftercare instructions, attending required patch tests and seeking medical advice where recommended. Cedar Beauty does not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or breach of a client's statutory rights.
Subject to the above, Cedar Beauty is not responsible for an unsatisfactory result or avoidable reaction caused by inaccurate or withheld information, failure to follow instructions, use of third-party products or treatments, or circumstances outside Cedar Beauty's reasonable control.
Complaints
Clients who are unhappy with any aspect of a treatment or service should contact Cedar Beauty as soon as reasonably possible so the concern can be assessed fairly and, where appropriate, an opportunity can be given to inspect the result or offer a suitable response. Complaints should be sent to abi@cedar-beauty.co.uk with the client's name, appointment date, treatment and a clear description of the concern. Relevant photographs may be requested.
Cedar Beauty aims to acknowledge a complaint within five working days and provide a full response as soon as reasonably practicable after any necessary investigation. Nothing in this complaints process affects the client's statutory rights.
